The uniquely interactive, holistic Beverly Coleman’s Wellness Services is the vision of Founder/Director: Beverly Coleman, MHP, L.Ac, Dipl.Ac.  When Beverly graduated from UCLA’s School of Public Health  in 1969 she began one of the first holistic health services  (called NACHES) in Los Angeles.  Her emphasis was on educating and empowering her clients to prevent and resolve health problems via  lifestyle changes and natural approaches. After 35 years, this “holistic,” “alternative” concept (now called “complementary health care”) has become a respected and often preferred  part of the health care system in the United States.   In her usual pioneering and visionary manner,  Beverly has now  developed  remarkable, user-friendly wellness services that bring complementary health care  to thousands of online seekers.

More About Beverly

Beverly  is a licensed acupuncturist, herbalist and nutritionist. She received her bachelor’s degree in sociology/anthropology at Cal State University in Los Angeles and a master’s of public health (MPH) in Behavioral Science/Health Education/ Gerontology at UCLA.  Beverly then earned a second master’s in Traditional Chinese Medicine at Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, California.  Beverly has been an avid researcher and student of health-related matters for over 40 years and a health care practitioner for the past 35 years.

In the early ’60s Beverly joined the Peace Corps. She was assigned to a remote village in Tanzania where she taught science and developed regional girls’ athletics. While in Tanzania Beverly was informally adopted into a local family the head of which was a traditional African doctor who treated the sick with  his herbal prescriptions. She learned much from this great patriarch  including why there was almost no high blood pressure, diabetes, colon cancer or heart attacks among the villagers. This experience along with her future interactions with traditional healers in other parts of the world, taught her how entwined the  mind/body and lifestyle are with one’s state of health.  These lessons inspired Beverly to focus her future health-related studies on complementary health care philosophies and therapies including herbology, therapeutic massage and acupuncture.

Beverly’s academic excellence, international travels, experiences and her lifelong research have uniquely qualified her to pioneer a number of important positions. She has been consultant to complementary medicine departments of several hospitals and medical schools. She has taught college nutrition and herbology and served as a formulating herbalist in the CenterPath complementary medicine program of The Sedona Medical Center.  From 2002 thru 2014 she was staff acupuncturist/herbalist/wellness educator at Choices Integrative Healthcare in Sedona  for Devin Mikles, M.D.

Beverly is currently in private practice and busily coordinating the activities of her Wellness Services.  She is available to speak to groups about herbs, nutrition and wellness practices. She is the author of “The Safe Use of Herbs — How to Use Common Household Herbs to Help You Stay Well” and “The Coleman Wellness Self-Test.
